Patient is supine. Area includes breast line to upper 3rd of thighs from table line right to table line left. Shaded areas shows anatomic areas to be cleansed with antiseptic, and direction of skin preparation

Abdominal preparation
Patient is supine. The areas to be prepped include the shoulder, upper arm extending down to the elbow, axilla, and chest to the table line and to the shoulder opposite from the affected side
If the patient is lateral, back is prepped also

Chest and Breast preparation
Abdomen on affected side, entire leg (per text book) and foot, buttocks to the table line, groin, and pubis

Hip preparation
Area includes entire circumference of effected leg and extends from front to upper part of thigh. Upper extremity is prepped in the same manner

Knee and lower leg
Patient is in lateral position. Area includes axilla, chest, abdomen from neck to iliac crest. Area extends beyond midline, anteriorly and posteriorly

Lateral Thoracoabdominal
The pubis, vulva, labia, perineum, and anus are prepped, including the upper thighs. Inner aspects of the vagina are prepped after the external vulva is prepped. The anus is prepped last, and each sponge must be discarded after going over the anus.

Rectoperineal and Vaginal

What position would be used for a patient that is having surgery on: vagina, urethra, perineum, anus and rectum
Lithotomy position
What position would be used for a patient that is having surgery on: anus, pilonidal
Kraske (jack knife)
What position would be used for a patient that is having surgery on: posterior cranium, dorsal body surface, spine, posterior lower extremity
Prone position
What position would be used for a patient that is having surgery on: retroperitoneal space, hip, hemithorax
Lateral position
