Isotretinoin (Vitamin A Derivative)= Its given to Treat SEVERE ACNE that is unresponsive to other treatments.

Side effects of Isotretinoin= Birth defect and Suicide risk

Lymphedema

Venous insufficiency= Where blood flow is limited to the lower legs

Cellulitis= we have Inflammation and Infection SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS?

1.Pain

2.warmth

3.Tenderness

4.swelling and Erythema

5.Patches of redness to the affected area

*If untreated it can grow into an abscess

*Complication can include Sepsis

* It occurs when bacteria enters the body through a break in the skin

* It can be spread by DIRECT CONTACT with sn Open area on a person who has an infection.

Cellulitis TREATMENTS?

Penicillin

Cephalosporins

Clindamycin

Good way to monitor the infection

is to see if its getting worse or better is to DRAW A BORDER around the infection site using a marker. Then we date it and we monitor it to see if getting larger .

Most common

1.Tinea corporis-ringworm infection

2.Tinea pedis-Athletes foot infection

3. Tinea capitis- lice on head

BOTH are very contagious fungal Infections that live on the surfaces of the skin.

Circular Rash

Scaly

Pruritus (itchy)

Patient education?

-Wear cotton stocking

-Use warm socks for the toes

-Keep the toes clean and dry

-Soak the toes in Burow's solution

Priority : Tinea Corporis NCLEX TIPS

Most important to teach ways to prevent the spread.

Avoid sharing tooth brush, towels, hats, clothes or anything else.

Always wash bedding and sheets before infecting another person in the family

Griseofulvin =Tinea corporis (Ringworm)

1.Take weeks to months

2.DO NOT discontinue once itching stops

3. BEST absorbed after eating a high fat diet
