Follicle Stimulating Hormone

Releasing Hormone (RH) - GnRH (gonadotrophin releasing hormone)

Target Organ - testes, ovaries

Hormone 2 (from target organ) - Ovaries; inhibin, estrogens / Testes; inhibin

Effect: Ovaries; stimulates development of eggs and follicles

Testes; stimulates production of sperm

Luteinizing Hormone

Releasing Hormone (RH) - GnRH (gonadotrophin releasing hormone)

Target Organ - Ovaries, testes

Hormone 2 - Ovaries; progestins, estrogens / testes; androgens

Effect - females; stimulates ovulation

males ; stimulates cells of testes to secrete testosterone
