delirium

  • A. disturbance in attention with reduced awareness of the environment
  • B. develops over a short period of time (few hours to few days) and represents a change from baseline attention and awareness and tends to fluctuate in severity during the course of the day
  • C. additional disturbance if cognition
  • D. disturbances in Criteiron A and C are not better explained by another preexisting neurocog. dx and do not happen during reduce level of arousal (e.g. coma)
  • E. evidenced from hx, physical exam, or labs that disturbance is direct physiological consequences of another medical condition, substance use, or multiple etiologies
