Hello, my name is Nick, and it is truly an honor to be here to accept my eagle scout award.

I would like to start off by saying that I never would have imagined myself in this position. Growing up, I never “stuck" with or succeeded in sports, extracurricular activities, I never really ‘achieved’ in anything. But here I stand before you, as an eagle scout. Only about 2% of all boy scouts become eagle scouts. Now, I can say that I am proud to be a part of that 2%. Achieving it wasn't just from my effort alone, but primarily thanks to all the people who guided me throughout my scouting journey.

First, I would like to thank Mr. Winchester, my scout leader, for always being a significant role model for myself, and the whole troop. Thank you for dedicating the past 40 years of your life to scouting. I want to thank my mother and father for putting me in the program, helping with scouting activities, and always taking me to meetings every Friday even when I know y’all didn’t have the time to. I also want to thank Ms. Heather, Mr. Robert Carr, Mr. Gerald, Ms. Ladmirault, and all of the parent committee for encouraging me to complete my journey even when things seemed impossible for me.

I also have to thank the boy scout organization because of the many skills I have acquired from it. To achieve eagle scout, you must plan and execute an eagle scout service project for the community. On top of that, we had to go through many leadership training programs, volunteer to help people and their communities, and persevere through so many nights of camping in the great outdoors. I also made many lifelong friends from being in scouting. Overall, my experience as a scout helped me become a better person.

It is important to thank all these people because I never would have gotten here without them. In fact, it would be impossible without them. That said, I am committed to using all I have learned from scouting to continue to positively impact my community.

Thank you.
