An organism that makes its own food for energy such as plants.

A consumer that hunts and eats another animal to get energy.

all organisms living together in an ecosystem; they depend on one another to fill their needs

omnivore

organism that eats producers and other consumers

herbivore

organism that eats only plants

carnivore

organism that eats other consumers; meat eater

to affect one another

abiotic

nonliving parts of an ecosystem: air, water, rocks, soil, sunlight, temperature

biotic

living parts of an ecosystem: animals, plants, bacteria

food chain

the transfer of food energy between organisms in an ecosystem

food web

a set of interconnected food chains

18.

competition

organisms needing the same resource

19.

photosynthesis

the process by which plants make their own food

20.

scavenger

An animal that eats the remains of dead animals.
