SWM Module 9: QUIZ

front 1

Which of the following is a primary goal when managing a dry wound bed?

A. Restore moisture to the wound.

B. Identify and treat the cause of wound dryness.

C. Apply a skin barrier or moisture barrier.

D. Prevent moisture vapor loss by insulating the wound.

back 1

A. When managing a dry wound bed, the primary goal is to restore moisture to promote healing. A dry wound bed can stall healing and cause tissue desiccation.

front 2

What type of dressing is recommended for managing excessive exudate in a wound?

A. Moisture-retentive dressings

B. Absorptive dressings such as foams or alginate

C. Hydrocolloid dressings

D. Transparent film dressings

back 2

B. Absorptive dressings like foams, gelling fiber dressings, and alginate are recommended for managing excessive exudate.

front 3

Which factor is essential for promoting epithelial edge advancement in wound healing?

A. Low moisture environment

B. Increased pressure on the wound

C. Frequent dressing changes

D. Adequate oxygen supply

back 3

D Adequate oxygen supply is essential for cell metabolism and energy production. These processes are necessary for cell movement and division, promoting epithelial edge advancement.

front 4

What is the effect of hypergranulation on epithelial edge advancement?

A. It accelerates wound healing.

B. It reduces the risk of infection.

C. It prevents epithelial cells from covering the wound.

D. It has no significant impact on healing.

back 4

C. Hypergranulation does not reduce infection risk. Hypergranulation prevents epithelial cells from covering the wound, hindering proper healing.

front 5

Which intervention stimulates healing by removing dead or non-viable tissue from the wound bed?

A. Debridement

B. Offloading pressure

C. Applying skin barrier

D. Using absorptive dressings

back 5

D. Debridement involves removing dead or non-viable tissue from the wound bed. This intervention stimulates healing and allows for better cell migration.
