front 1

Atom

back 1

A tiny particle that is the fundamental building blocks of ALL substances & whose properties determine the properties of an element made up only of those atoms.

front 2

Atomic Mass

back 2

The measure of the mass of an atom, generally the sum of the protons and neutrons; this term is
used when referring to a single atom or atoms of a single isotope

front 3

Atomic Nucleus

back 3

The positively charged core of an atom, which is composed of positively charged protons and
electrically neutral neutrons

front 4

Atomic Number

back 4

The number of protons in every atom of an element

front 5

Electron

back 5

A tiny part of an atom with a negative electrical charge

front 6

Isotope

back 6

Atoms of the same element that differ in the number of neutrons in the nucleus

front 7

Neutron

back 7

A neutral particle with approximately the same mass as a proton, found in nuclei of atoms along with
protons

front 8

Proton

back 8

A positively charged particle found in the nuclei of atoms

front 9

Element

back 9

A pure form of matter that can not be broken down into simpler substance

front 10

Spontaneous

back 10

Happens by itself & releases energy.

front 11

Frequency

back 11
