"As a student who’s experienced the challenges of long school days firsthand, my name is Lily, and my midterm question is Are shorter school days better for students? How many of us are athletes,(Most right?) and although not all but some in here have a job.

front 2

There has been research done saying that longer school days do not necessarily correlate w better learning outcomes. In-fact more time to rest could be beneficial. So if we were to change our school day to half the time (four hours) this is what an average day would look like.

1-Longer school days lead to mental fatigue, making it harder to focus and retain information. Shortening the day helps us stay alert, so we absorb and remember material more effectively.

2-A shorter school day leads to more focused, intense lessons that keep students engaged for shorter periods, improving retention and encouraging active participation.

3-A shorter school day gives students more time to review and reinforce what they've learned, helping them process information in smaller, manageable chunks and strengthen their understanding.
