Force

front 1

Newton's second law of motion

back 1

Describes the acceleration of an object in the direction of the net force applied to it

front 2

friction

back 2

The force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are touching each other.

front 3

Gravity

back 3

Force exerted by every object in the universe on every other object. The amount of force depends on the masses of the objects and the distance between them.

front 4

centripetal acceleration

back 4

Acceleration toward the center of a circle by an object moving along a circular path

front 5

centripetal force

back 5

The force that causes an object moving along a circular path to move toward the center of the path.

front 6

weight

back 6

The measure of the force of gravity of an object.

front 7

Newton's third law of motion

back 7

Describes action-reaction pairs; for every action force, there is an equal and opposite reaction force.

front 8

momentum

back 8

A property of any moving object; the product of an object's mass and velocity.
