Biology lab chapter 14&15
The replication and division of the nucleus of a eurakaryotic cell in preparation for cytokinesis
During mitosis what occurs?
Chromosomes within the cell are replicated by enzymes and then separate into two identical sets surrounded by a nuclear membrane
Do not undergo mitosis. replicate their chromosome and then divide in half during binary fission
The divison of the cell and cytoplasm into halves that each contain a nucleus
Why are mitosis and cytokinesis important
They provide a mechanism for orderly growth of living organisms
The cell cycle
depicted as a circle. G1 is the first gap that involves growth and preparation for DNA synthesis. During the S phase a copy of the genome is synthesized. G2 prepares the cell for mitosis.
What happens at the end of the S phase
