Objectives:

Generate a FM signal by using a VCO (voltage controlled oscillator). Use two VCO to create a PPL (phase locked-loop) to lock the signal produced by the VCO to keep it from drifting away from the set frequency.

Results:

As the gain is increased on the VCO the waveform for the FM signal is less in the trough than when the gain is lower. When the frequency drift from the incoming signal we can use a PLL so the output signal matches the input signal.

Conclusions:

Using the VCO we can create an FM signal but can’t be used in communication since the center frequency is not stable. By adjusting the gain of the second VCO we can create a phase lock loop. The gain of the second VCO must be set for at least twice the gain of the first.
