NETW 204 Week 4 Lab Static and Dynamic Routing

Introduction

The goal of this lab is to learn to setup a Cisco router and connect to other devices using the Command Line Interface. Once set up, we then verify connectivity between the devices. In the second part of the lab, we configured a static route between a switch and router, then verified that connection before adding in a default route to the two devices.

Procedure

This lab, as many of them have thus far, had a specific set of instructions that must be followed to the letter in order to achieve the desired result. We started by initially configuring our router using the SETUP command, and then setting the name of the router (NYEDGE1) along with the password (cisco). From here we verified which ports has cables attached using the SHOW CONTROLLERS command. After verifying which version of the OS we were running (via SHOW VERSION command), we then proceeded to create a connection between two routers via INTERFACE, IP ADDRESS, and NO SHUTDOWN commands. We observed that a clock rate had been selected by default, and used the CLOCK RATE command to change it.
