The Count of Monte Cristo
In the port of Marseilles, France, a crowd watches the ship(Pharaon) pull into dock. While on that ship, the captain died. Dantes and Danglars had a scuffle.
After leaving the docks Dantes goes to visit his father and discovers his father has been starving and is malnutritioned. he obtains francs to help his father.
Dantes visits a beautiful girl in Catalans, Spain. Her jealous cousin detested Dantes. So her cousin and some people plot against Dantes.
The cousin was not willing to kill Dantes because the girl, Mercedes, said that she would kill herself if Dantes would die. The conspirators then plot to figure out a way to imprison Dantes.
Dantes and Mercedes were having a feast when guards burst in and arrested Dantes. So Danglars offered to take over the ship while Dantes is imprisoned.
In a different town, another feast is happening with the daughter of the Marquis of Saint-Méran and her fiance, Gerard. The feast is interrupted when they hear about Dantes was arrested for something to do with Bonaparte.
Dantes pleads innocent to the conspiracy claim. He says he is carrying out his captain's death wish. Dantes tells the man who he is delivering the message to and because of the person he is sending it to… he was planned to be sent away.
Villefort sent Dantes away to Château D’If
Villefort feels regret after Mercedes asked about Dantes because he was imprisoning an innocent man's life for his own ambitions.
Villefort rushes to Paris to tell King Louis XVIII of the conspiracies contained in the letter Dantès was carrying. He informs the king that there is a conspiracy afoot to bring Napoleon back to power.
Villefort’s warning has come too late. Napoleon has already landed in France and is marching on Paris. Nevertheless, Villefort wins the king’s gratitude, as he is the only person who was able to uncover Napoleon’s plot in advance.
Villefort tells his father that the police are looking for a man who fits his description. His father, Noirtier, shaves his beard and changes his clothes in order to evade police.
Danglars, unaware that Villefort has an intense personal interest in keeping Dantès locked away, fears that Dantès will be released and then will seek revenge.
Dantes spends more than a day in the prison and now realize he has been framed.
He spends 14 years in prison, when he finally meets a man that dug a tunnel to try to escape. The man, Abbey, has been trying to escape for years but went the wrong way slightly.
Abbey and Dantes become good friends and devise a plan to escape.
While they were escaping Abbey came down with a bad illness and passed away, but gave Dantes a map to treasure at the island of Monte Cristo.
Dantes escaped by hiding in the burlap sack that the guards put Abbeys dead body in.
He was thrown out into the sea where he cut himself free, and passed out floating in the ocean.
He awoke to two smugglers taking him in and taking care of him. They talked and decided that they were going to go for the treasure.
When they arrive at the location, Dantes gets out and goes explore in a big cave. He eventually finds the chest full of riches.
He brought the chest back and him and his two smuggler buddies were rich.
He goes back to paris where because he is so rich he is known as the Count of Monte Cristo.
He plans to take each one of the people out one by one.
