1. Occlusal- the chewing surface or the posterior teeth only( the biting or cutting edge of anterior teeth in known as incisal)
2. Facial- refers to the outer surface (next to the cheeks and lips) of any tooth.
3. Distal- the surface of any tooth facing the back or posterior of the mouth.
4. Mesial- the surface of the tooth facing forward, towards the anterior if the mouth.
