Software that provides communication between the user, application software, and the hardware- must have an operating system to run your computer Examples: Windows, Apple OS.

Filenames

In Windows, file names are given an extension which tells the type of file-.doc (word),.pfd (Adobe Reader), .jpg (image)

File Properties

Right click on a file to see the properties including size, date created or modified, full name.

Save

After the first save, clicking SAVE will automatically replace the old file with the new one.

Save As

Always opens the save window allowing you to control where you save and what the name will be.

Selecting Files and Folders

Select all- Ctrl+ A OR click and drag around all files.
Select Section- Shift+ Click will select from the first click to the last click.
Random Selection- Ctrl+ Click to select items not next to each other.

Make a copy or save in two different hardware locations.
