Default settings

The settings that are in place when a program is open such as; margins or font

Titlebar

Shows name of program and open document also contains minimize maximize and close buttons

Office button

Click the office button to find a drop down menu containing options, such as: open, save, and print

Ribbon

the strip of buttons that icons located above the work area in word 2007 each ribbon contains groups of commands

the ribbon is broken down into 7 tabs. each tab has a common purpose and consists of several groups

A set of similar commands on a ribbon.

Number marks across the top of the page - used for margins, indenting, tab stops, alignment

view ruler button

allows you to view/hide the rulers.

screen split button

at the top of the vertical scrollbar is a new button. just above the view ruler button that looks like a minus sign that looks like a minus that lets you split your screen in two when double clicked it a second time will unsplit your screen

tab selector button

you can easily set tab stops by clicking on the desired position on the ruler. this button allows you to determine which type of tab will be set left aligned, right aligned, center aligned or decimal tab clicking on this button will allow you to change the tab style.

UNDO

to remove the effects of a previous command (Ctrl+Z)

REDO

restores the most recent command that was undone

Print preview

allows you to see how a document will look before printing.

Clipboard

A temporary storage area for a selection that is waiting to be pasted

CTRL + X - cut a selection and place it on the clipboard
