1

Name the location/function of Broca's Area

Frontal lobe (usually left cerebral hemisphere); Directs muscles in involved with speech production

2

Name the location/function of Brodman's Area

Occipital Cortex; Integrating center for vision

What is the name and function of this area of the cortex?

Wernicke's Area; Understanding speech

4

What function is the occipital lobe associated with?

Visual Recognition

5

What function is the temporal lobe associated with?

Auditory Recognition

6

Where is the primary motor cortex located and what is its function?

In the precentral gyrus (both hemispheres); Control of precise, voluntary movements

7

Where is the premotor cortex located and what is its function?

Just anterior to the primary motor cortex; Controls learned motor skills (typing, playing instrument, etc.)

8

Where is the primary somatosensory cortex located and what is its function?

In the postcentral gyrus; Spatial discrimination (location of body in space)

9

Where is the somatosensory association cortex and what is its function?

Just posterior to the postcentrsl gyrus; To integrate sensory input (tempature, pressure, etc.)

10

Where is the visual association area?

Covers most of the occipital lobe

11

Where is the primary auditory cortex?

Covering most of the temporal lobe

12

Where is the primary olfactory cortex?

Medial aspect of temporal lobe (called piriform lobe)
