There are 4 types of Lymphoid Cells. Name them.
Lymphocytes,Macrophages, Dendritic Cells, Reticular Cells
There are two types of lymphocytes
T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes
What do Macrophages do?
phagocytize foreign substances and help activate T cells
Dendritic cells do what?
capture antigens and deliver them to lymph nodes
Reticular cells do what?
produce stroma that supports other cells in lymphoid organs (help filter)
Define an antigen
Anything the body perceives as foreign
Made up of reticular fibers and white blood cells
What does lymphoid tissue do?
houses and provides a proliferation site for lymphocytes
There are two main types of lymphoid tissue?
Diffuse lymphatic tissue and Lymphatic follicles
Define lymphatic follicles
spherical bodies of tightly packed reticular elements and cells
