Circle

The set of all points in a plane that are the same distance from a given point.

Center

The given point from which all points on the circle are the same distance.

Radius

The distance from the center of the circle to any point on the circle.

Diameter

The distance across a circle through its center.

Circumference of Circle

C = 2πr or πd

Area of Circle

Prism

A polyhedron that has two parallel, congruent bases in the shape of polygons.

Pyramid

A polyhedron that has a polygon for a base and triangles for sides.

Cylinder

A solid that has two parallel, congruent bases (usually circular) connected with a curved side.

Cone

A 3-D figure with one circular base. A curved surface connects the base and vertex.

Sphere

Three dimensional, geometrical shape, that has all its surface points equidistant from a common point.

Face

Any of the individual flat surfaces of a solid object.

Edge

For a polygon: A line segment on the boundary joining one vertex (corner point) to another.

Vertices

A point at which two polygon edges meet.

Cross Section

A view into the inside of something made by cutting through it.

Surface Area of Rectangular Prism

SA = 2lw + 2lh + 2wh

Surface Area of Cylinder
