Better with activity, boutonniere deformity, exacerbation & remission, NO spine involvement, BILATERALLY
What is osteoarthritis?
Wear and tear disorder, loss of cartilage
Who would we see with OA?
Athletes and obese
What joints does OA affect?
Load bearing joint, unilateral
What is osteoporosis?
Decrease in bone density, decrease osteoblast acitivty
Who would we see with osteoporosis?
Older white or asian women
What are some s/s with osteoporosis?
Not painful until a broken bone

Bone breaks through skin

What is a commnuated fracture?
Multiple areas of breaks w smaller bone fragments
What is a compression fracture?
Bone collapse on itself
What kind of fracture indicates abuse?
