Artifact

Cuneiform
A system of writing in which wedge-shaped symbols represented words or syllables. It originated in Mesopotamia and is considered the first system of writing.

An Egyptian writing system that used pictures to represent words. Also used by Mayans.

Reeds found along the Nile river; used to make paper in ancient Egypt

A person whose job was to copy documents - in ancient times these were often the only people who could read and write

An expert who studies the past by examining objects that people have left behind
